While sailing on route from Grand Cayman to Montego Bay , a fire broke out on Princess's Cruises Star Princes from one of passengers cabins, at 3:10 local time. Fire emergency was declared immediately and all passengers and crew members were requested to report to their muster stations wearing life-jackets. All of them witnessed to night-time drama until ship docked into Montego Bay 's port. Among 2690 passengers and 1,123 crew members onboard, 11 people are injured and one 75-old man reported dead.

A company statement said two passengers suffered significant smoke inhalation injuries and nine others had minor complications.
The cause of fire is not officially determined for now, but it is suspected that a smoldering cigarette is to blame. Fire was completely extinguished by crewmembers leaving at least 100 staterooms completely scorched.
Cruise line is cooperating fully with investigators from the U.S. Coast Guard and other regulatory officials to determine the cause and assess the damage.
Princess Cruises expressed deepest sympathy for passengers and their families who were personally affected by this tragic accident, in particular the family of the passenger who passed away, along with those passengers who suffered from smoke inhalation injuries.
Passengers who were in cabins that are destroyed by fire, are after incident transferred into hotels in Montego Bay and all others passengers will stay on ship until they will be arranged to fly home over the next fey days, and they all will receive a full refund of their cruise and air fare.
The ship is in safe condition and is fully operational and continues to provide passengers with full services.
