Don't we all love hi-tech? Is it true that all these electronic toys make our life a lot easier? Yes, true, no need to elaborate that now. So why would the cruise vacation be any difference?
Here we are bringing you the overview of hi-tech gadgets which sure can make time on luxury ship quite more enjoyable and better organized.
Of course, it is not necessary to take this list as ‘must have’ necessities. We are all different and we love different thing to do. No need to remind you that bring only things that you really plan to use. Nobody needs any extra luggage, of course. Check out items mentioned below and see how they suits your interests. We hope our suggestions will help you to find the right stuff among huge amount of products. We tried to narrow out our suggestions to devices that are compact in size which makes them easier to carry in light outfit on relaxing cruise ship atmosphere.

• Cell phone: Times when cruise ships were isolated island are soon to be past. GSM reception signals are available on most of vessels by now and prices of calls are going down. Or maybe to use your mobile phone just for quick exchange text messages with your family back home (I also like to send some messages to my friends and co-workers telling how good time I have and make them jealous). Our choice: SAMSUNG SGH-T519. Why? This ultra light phone is ideal to carry on relaxed vacation outfit and it doesn't lack any of modern features. If you prefer more advanced smart phone with its almost endless capabilities (as I do) then my recommendation goes to T-Mobile Dash. This unit brings features such as email usage, multimedia, internet in size that can fit into your pocket.

• Mobile music player also well known as MP3 player. Last couple of year’s market of these products definitively exploded. Endless selection of cheap known and not well known brands is available in the stores. To make thins short and simple: Our choice is Ipod Nano (preferably 8GB version). Why? Big storage capacity to bring all your favorite tunes in sleek, skip-free device plus another advantage over the competition: built in stopwatch. This is ideal player for jogging and track lovers (like me, I just love to watch my time on jogging track on cruise ship, I can't help myself). Of course this choice may not suits everyone’s taste and needs so there is tons of other models to choose in many, many sizes, price ranges, features... etc.

• Digital camera, no need to explain why. We all taking picture on our vacations for sure. Our choice: Kodak EasyShare V570. Why? Compact size, good picture quality plus advanced features such as dual lens, abundant scene modes, in-camera panorama stitching and distortion correction.


• How about all three devices from above in one tiny
  unit? Yes, that’s also possible. You can have cell phone that also does a job of mp3 player and digital camera. In that case good choice would be: Sony Ericsson K790. All these 3 functions in one device are really usable, but you need to know that they are not as good as separate (dedicated) units in their field. Obviously main advantage of this solution is you carry only one device instead of three so this could be good choice as long as you don’t need to use advanced functions.

• Laptop computer. If you are really attached to your work, files, programs, games or whatever you use your computer for, just bring your laptop on ship. We already covered this issue in this article, so now we will only pronounce our personal winner: Dell Latitude D420. Why? Ultra compact (3.1 lbs weight) comes with great performance plus all connectivity options that you can think of (modem, ethernet, WI-FI, bluetooth, mobile broadband) makes sure that whatever internet connection solution ship offers you will be ready.

• Camcorder. Maybe best way to preserve your memories for the future is to record your good time in video format. Recent development of this devices brings us ability to shot personal video footage of really amazing quality. With some basic filming skills you can make priceless family movie that will last for ages. Market offers many different models to choose from with various features. This time we choose brand new model Sony Handycam DCR-SR80, hard drive based, lightweight camcorder with crisp-clear image quality.

• Personal video player. This new hit on mobile multimedia industry makes you able to bring any kind of video material in your pocket and watch it whenever you like. So if you cannot live without your regular dose of movies, TV shows or family videos we may suggest you to get device like: Archos 504. This gorgeous pocket size makes watching videos on its 4.3 inch wide screen a true joy. Get this and never be bored when waiting for the plane again.
• Game console. Video games buffs don’t need to quit their favorite activity on high seas too. Natural choice in this case is Sony PlayStation Portable, amazing time-killing toy from Japan. Fits in every pocket and always ready to offer fun.

• GPS. Trace route of your trip, never get lost in foreign country and easily locate your point of interests on shore excursion. Sounds good? This is what GPS (Global Positioning System) device does. Our choice would be: Garmin iQue 3600.

• Waterproof watch. For experienced cruisers this thing proved to be very useful. Personally I cannot really relax enough to enjoy time on the beach if I don’t know time because I don’t even want to think of situation that I miss the ship. Nobody wants to miss the ship but yet I see it happening quite often. Solution is simple: get waterproof watch and wear it. Our suggestion: any model that shows time correctly, on dry or wet conditions will do. Tip: Just don’t forget to synchronize time with ships time if you change time zone.
